Panoramic beauty of Ramakkalmedu and numerous windfarms

Ramakkalmedu

Ramakkalmedu is definitely a place worth visiting for those who want a  travel different journey. This place is located in the idukki district of Kerala India. Ramakkalmedu is located in the western ghats at an elevation of 3500ft above sea level. If you go up a few hills and mountains, you can see the beauty of  Tamilnadu. One can only get to know tamilnadu from the top of the hills of Kerala by going there  for a taste. A lot of tourists  come here to see this historic  hills. There is a legend  behind the name of Ramakkalmedu. It is believed that lord Rama reached the top of the hill in search of his sita devi. Ramakkalmedu derives  its name  from the place  where " Lord  Rama set foot". Ramakkalmedu is located on the Kerala - Tamilnadu  border  in idukki district. If you climb  this hill you can see all the farms in tamilnadu and feel the good wind here.

Rocks

Many tourists  visit this place ,especially the adventurous travellers. The wind  that always  blows makes. This adventure even more  exciting, lot of people come here for trekking. But avoid  climbing on rocks and hills as there is slip during the rainy season.

Wind Farms

Another attraction of  Ramakkalmedu, is the huge windmills  that are constantly spinning . It has a wind  speed of 35.5 KM per hour  and generates electricity  from here.




Kuravan and kurathi Sculptures 

On the another hill near view point  you can  see kuravan and kurathi sculptures. It is also an are with good winds. Lot of people come here to  take photos. These are character's  in the legends associated with the Idukki Dam.


Ramakkalmedu

When you go to Munnar or Thekkady , don't forget to go to Ramakkalmedu. It is located at a distance of 70 km from Munnar and 43km from Thekkady. This place is located at a distance 20 km from kattappana, the main town of Idukki district.
