Incredible Elegance and Evergreen views of Lakkam Waterfalls

Lakkam waterfalls in Munnar

Lakkam waterfall is located in marayoor in Idukki district of Kerala. Lakkam fall is situated on the Munnar - Marayoor State Highway.  Lakkam waterfalls at an elevation of 7,300 Ft above Sea level. Lakkam falls is situated at Gundumalai village near Marayoor, located between Marayoor and Munnar. It is one of the beautiful waterfalls in Munnar and among the must visited place in Marayoor. Lakkam waterfall is located at a distance of 24 km from Munnar and about 16 km from Marayoor under the Munnar wildlife department.

The waterfall is only 100 meters away from the road. The uniqueness of this place is that it has clean water that doesn't get turbulent water even during heavy rains. The waterfall is located near eravikulam and is overgrown with waka trees.  Lakkam fall is  rich in cool  fresh water, starting point from the Anamudi Range. The special features is that even small childrens can bath  safely. Forest Rangers and guides are present along the security Cordon. It is a 1 km trek along the slopes of the lakkam river, tributary of the pampar. The trekking charges is Rs.100 per person. 

Just a 10 minutes walks from the main road to the waterfall. The place where lakkam waterfall is located is a plastic free area. On the way you will see a lot of monkeys. The Forest Department office is located near the fall. You have to climb a few more steps to reach the waterfall. October to January is the best time to visit the lakkam falls. The time to visit lakkam waterfalls is from 8 am to 5 pm. The entrance fee is Rs.50 per person.

Lakkam log house is another attraction near lakkam falls. The log house of the forest department is located close to the lakkam river. The rate is Rs.3000 for two person. This includes two early meals. If you want to stay here, you have to book in advance.

But many persons are returning from the 

 road to see the waterfall. Tourist spend a lot of time in the water, as the water is very cool . Lakkam waterfall is a great place to spend time in Munnar.
