Deira Clocktower - The important monument of Dubai

Deira Clock Tower is a roundabout in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).  Originally known as the Dubai Clock Tower. The Clocktower is located in eastern Dubai in Deira, at the intersection of Umm Hurair Road and route D 89 (Al Maktoum Road). Built in 1965, this popular tourist attraction around the Al Rigga district provides access to the Al-Maktoum Bridge, the first land passageway between Dubai and Deira. It is often hailed as one of the 17 most beautiful clock towers in the world. Dera Clock Tower is one of the oldest monuments in Dubai, built by the architect Edgar Bublik.

It was designed by Otto Bullard and Siki Holmes, partners in the Office of Architectural Design Construction (ADC). The Clock Tower was established as a symbol of Dubai as it connects the major routes to Dubai before the construction of the Dubai - Abu Dhabi Road. The area around the Deira Clock Tower is commercially important, as well as the offices of major international airlines operating in the UAE. 

The Deira Clock Tower, one of the oldest landmarks in Dubai, was originally made of steel reinforcement, which eventually started to corrode. It was rebuilt in 1989 with concrete to prevent further damage and keep the structure safe. The clocks in the tower were replaced in 2008 with Omega models that make use of GPS devices for accuracy.There is no need to manually change the clock hands as it is now all digital.

The months from November to April are the best time of the year to visit Deira Clocktower. This is the time when the weather is cool and pleasant in Dubai and attracts visitors. This is the perfect time for tourists to indulge in the beautiful views of the Deira Clock Tower.

Entry Fee: It has free entry for both locals and foreigners. 

How to Reach 

1. By Metro: The nearest Dubai Metro stations to Deira Clocktower is Al Rigga and Dubai City Centre on the Red Line. 

2. By Bus: There are many transit lines including 27, 53, 11A and X28 that stop close to Deira Clocktower. 

3. By own transport: Deira Clocktower can be accessed by hailing a cab or taxi from the airport.
