Peruvannamuzhi dam is a scenic picnic spot amidst the hills. This reservoir fulfills the drinking water needs of Kozhikode,Quilandy and Vadakara. The reservoir of this dam is located in Chakkittapara and Koorachund panchayats. There is a speed boat and a tower boat. It is a popular tourist destination in Kozhikode district. Peruvannamuzhi Wildlife Sanctuary is also known as Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary. The dam's reservoir has a small island with a bird sanctuary and a crocodile farm. Here you can closely observe the huge crocodiles maintained by the forest department. A garden named 'Smarakathottam' has been constructed in memory of the freedom fighters of the area.
The dam is one of the most beautiful as well as a very popular picnic spot and is situated between the hills. Peruvannamuzhi Dam is very near to the village and, hence, owes its name after that village. The dam is built over Kuttiadi River which originates from the Narikota ranges on the western slopes.
The most favorable season to visit Peruvannamuzhi Dam in Kozhikode is the summer season starting from March to May. Monsoon is the worst time to visit as it rains heavily and you may not be able to go out and explore much. You can use a local transport or walk to your destination enjoying the beauty of the place.

Peruvannamuzhi Dam, also known as Kuttiady Dam, is a dam built on the Kuttiady River at Peruvannamuzhi, Chakkittapara Gram Panchayat, Kozhikode District, Kerala. It was built as part of the Kuttyadi Irrigation Scheme. The project consists of a stonework dam across the Kuttiadi river and 13 earth dams for maximum storage of the reservoir. The construction of this project started in 1962 and was commissioned in 1973.
How to Reach Peruvannamuzhi Dam
By Train: once you reach the Kozhikode railway station, you will have to travel by road for about 51.5 kilometres to reach the dam, which is approximately 1 hour 11 minutes journey.
By Bus: The nearest Bus depot to the dam is Perambra Bus station which is at Vadakke Nada road and it takes about 21 minutes and a further travel of 13 kilometres to reach the destination. Once you take cab from the bus station, head towards south-east to get on to the Puthiyangadi Koothuparamba – Chovva Bypass/SH 38/SH 54 continuing straight for a kilometre and then take the first left and further move straight for 8.1 kilometres. Then turn left and you will pass a Panchayat office on the right. After moving for 3.1 kilometres on this road, turn right to reach the Muthakad Road at CRPF Training centre. After heading straight for 1.7 kilometres, you will finally reach the destination
By Air: Karipur International airport is the nearest airport to Peruvannamoozhi Dam which is almost 74.3 kilometres and ideally take 1 hour 33 minutes.
Visiting Hours: The timings for Peruvannamuzhi Dam are 10AM to 5PM.
