Refreshing Moments by Punnayar Waterfall

Punnayar Waterfall is located near Thodupuzha in the Idukki district of Kerala, India. It's a beautiful, lesser-known destination, offering a serene and picturesque experience with lush greenery and a tranquil atmosphere. The falls are especially active during the monsoon season, making it a great spot for nature lovers and photographers. The area around the waterfall is ideal for short hikes and picnics.

Idukki is a hill station full of green hills, fringed hills and chilly temperatures, and is a favorite tourist destination for travelers. Most of the family and friends choose to travel to the beauty of Idukki if they get free time. She has the beauty to seduce anyone with her looks. Tourists are camping in many parts of the flowing water that flows for kilometers. Those who came with their families take a competitive bath in the small waterfalls above the bridge.

The waterfall is located 40 km from Thodupuzha Vannapuram. It can be seen in maximum flow only from October to December. Most people choose places that are scenic, inexpensive, yet easily accessible. Idukki is such a place. Not only the lush greenery, the waterfalls are also ready to welcome visitors with the onset of rain..

There are many beautiful waterfalls in Idukki. One of them is Punnayar Falls in Kanjikuzhi. Be careful approaching the falls as there are rocks and rapids. If you listen to the sound and walk to the foothills, you will reach Punnayar Falls. Punnayar waterfall, which not many people know about since it started flowing, is in Kanjikuzhi village panchayat. You can see it for free without any ticket.

From Kanjikuzhi and from Vatonpara Junction on the Alappuzha-Madura State Highway, take a left downhill and travel for two kilometers to reach Punnayar. From here, if you go down for about a kilometer on the off road, you will reach the waterfall. About half a kilometer of this is a walking path. After walking, you will reach a steep hill on both sides. A deep notch on the left side. The Periyar River flows gently through the mountains through a steep valley of about a thousand feet. Beyond that is the jungle.

If you step on the rock on the right side of the mountain and hang on to it, you can reach the Punnayar waterfall. It is full of large rock fragments. The waterfall flows through it and empties into Periyar. The fountain falls milky white on the giant rocks and rains down on the tourists standing around. Indescribable beauty. Those who came down the mountain and those who couldn't get down and took their seats at the top will watch and leave without batting an eye. From a height of about 70 feet, the Punnayar Falls falls to the ground in three rows, making a violent sound like a fountain when the shutters of the dam are opened.

There are no shops in Punnayar City. As there is no parking facility, vehicles are parked on the roadside. During the rainy season, the waterfall, which blooms fiercely, can compete with the Athirappilly waterfall in its beauty.
