Al Zorah coastal suburb of Ajman

Al Zorah is a coastal suburb of Ajman, UAE, situated on the northern border of Ajman and Sharjah, between Ajman and Hamriyah. It is one of the popular ecotourism destinations in Ajman. It is also home to more than 60 bird sanctuaries, including the Pink Flamingo, Egret and Heron. Established in 2004 to protect biodiversity and endangered flora and fauna, the Al Zorah  Nature Reserve is a 195-hectare protected area around the mouth of Ajman Creek, one kilometer long in the Arabian Gulf. 

Al Zorah Nature Reserve

The reserve has a vibrant habitat made up of mangrove forests, turquoise lakes and sandy beaches. The mangrove forests here belong to the genus Avicennia marina. The Al  Zorah Nature Reserve in Ajman has been officially declared a Watershed of International Significance under the Ramsar Convention, making it the seventh largest Ramsar site in the UAE. 

The area is rich in corals, fish, mollusks and native flora, making it a popular destination for field studies by tourists, scientists and researchers. The nature reserve, with 7 km of waterfront, 2 km of beach and Tidal Creek, is built for water transport activities such as windsurfing and kayaking. The best way to explore the mangroves is by kayak, and the calm water and network of channels make it ideal even for new rowers. 

Meanwhile, golfers can take part in the 18-hole Championship Golf Course at the nearby Al  Zorah Golf Club. The 18-hole championship golf course at Al Zorah was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is managed by Troon Golf.  For more fun, opt for adventure water sports like seaplane tours, abra rides, wakeboarding and stand-up paddleboarding.

Watch the birds 

This ecotourism destination in Ajman, UAE is a great place for bird watchers to sight some egrets, herons and the pink flamingos among other avian populations.The thriving biodiversity of the Al Zorah Nature Reserve is home to 58 species of native and migratory birds.  


Play Golf 

You can enjoy your leisure time at the nearby Al  Zorah Golf Club. All you need to do is pre-book your playing time via the club’s website. The sessions are available from 06:00 am to 05:00 pm and are priced on progressive basis, starting from AED 245.  



Mangrove Tour

The mangrove forest is one of the largest tourist attractions in the Al Zorah Natural Reserve. You can sign up for one of the guided mangrove kayaking tours that take you through the calm waters into the thick of the natural mangrove forests to explore the flora and fauna native to it. This is a great place to go for those who love kayaking. 



Boat Ride 

Boating is one of the most popular activities for families in the Al Zorah  Natural Reserve. The facilities include paddle boats, rowing boats and kayaks. Due to its popularity, long queues for boating at Al Sora Nature Reserve require a lot of waiting. The best way to avoid this hassle is to go early in the morning or book your slot in advance. 


Relax at the beach 

You can spend some time on the beach with family and friends. Just pack a beach blanket and a wholesome picnic to enjoy with your friends and family. Wander in the sand, build some sand castles with your kids or enjoy playing in the water. 


When all is done, relax and relish a choice of aromatic food at the cafes and restaurants lining the waterfront.

How to Reach

Al  Zorah Natural Reserve is located in the northern part of Ajman. The area can be accessed directly from Al Ittihad Street within Ajman. People travelling from Sharjah or Dubai can take the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to reach the Al Zorah Nature Reserve location. At a distance of 11 km from Ajman Bus Station.
