Thommankuthu is a waterfall located in Thodupuzha Thaluk in Idukki District of the southern state of Kerala, India. Thommankuthu waterfalls is not a single waterfall but a series of 12 falls over a distance of 5 km. The 12 falls that vary in height and pass through the lush evergreen forests, Presents an impressive sight. It is a part of River Kannadiyaar. Every waterfall forms a pool, where you can swim. Thommankuthu waterfall is a seven - step waterfall located in forest. A trek of 12 km through the forests is possible.
The waterfall is named after its founder Thommachan Kuruvinakunnel who introduced this beautiful waterfall to the world.The visitors can enjoy a bath at the falls in summer, but not during the monsoon as the level of water increases. It is a popular tourist destination in the state and one of the major centers of eco-tourism in Kerala.
The place boasts of rich flora and fauna and various caves, and viewpoints, which attract and mesmerize the visitors. The place provides the best opportunity for trekking, boating, rock climbing, sightseeing, bathing, bird watching, and much more. you can go for trekking and bird watching expeditions for a relatively small fee.
These waterfalls are at their best during monsoons. However, rainy season is not the best time for trekking. Plan your visit after monsoon or during winter. September to February is the best time to enjoy a pleasant drive to Thommankuth Falls Munnar and trek as far as you want. Leave early for the trek and spend a day in the jungle.
Thommankuthu is located 18 km from Thodupuzha. Nearest towns are Karimannoor and Vannappuram and Udumbannoor which are nearly 10 km from Thommankuthu.

How to Reach
By Air : Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport. It is about 120 km away from Munnar and 65 km from the waterfall. And it has flights from many places in India and abroad.
By Train: Ernakulam Railway Station is the nearest railway station which is about 58 km away from Thodupuzha. The other nearest stations is Kottayam railway station which is at a distance of 80kms.
By Road: The nearest towns are Thodupuzha (20 km) and Muvattupuzha (35kms) from where one can get regular buses to Thommankuth. The route from Ernakulam to the waterfalls is Ernakulam – Muvattupuzha – Thodupuzha – take left - Thommankuthu.
