Masafi is a town in the northeastern part of the United Arab Emirates. It lies at the base of the Hajar Mountains on the border of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah emirates. To the west of town, a daily Friday market offers carpets, ceramics and produce. Surrounded by palm trees, the restored Masafi Fort has an underground aqueduct system. The city marks the beginning of Wadi Hamin, a long, seasonally flooded valley. 



Masafi is developed along the old route from Fujairah to Dubai via Sharjah. It was originally a trading post and refueling stop before modern highways were built in the region in the 1970s. Masafi lies on the border between the two emirates, with a large part of the city of Fujairah and a small part of the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah. The village of Masafi is famous in the UAE for its natural springs, the name Masafi means 'pure water' in Arabic. Also, the village is one of the best producers of natural mineral water in the Gulf.


Masafi Friday Market 

Masafi is also famous for its Friday Market found on the Dubai-Fujairah. Located about 5 km west of Masafi. Nestled between mountains and valleys, with an open market setting, the iconic Friday Market attracts visitors from all over the region. The Masafi Friday Market or Souq al Juma'a is especially known for its fresh and locally grown produce like vegetables, fruits, plants, flowers, sweets, honey, Arabic ghee, and dates along with toys, carpets, and pots. This is a great place to buy carpets, mats, etc. Although it is open daily, the market is called the Friday market. With the presence of speed bumps on the road, the market grew up around many farmers and other vendors who slowed down traffic and sold vegetables and accessories from the back of their trucks and expanded over time to form today's township.

Masafi Fort 

Masafi Fort is located in the masafi town, in the Al Hajar mountain range near Fujairah border with Ras Al Khaimah. Masafi Fort is an old Islamic fort located in Masafi village. 

It is considered that the fort was built during the 19th century in order to protect the oasis which connects the eastern and western sides of the Al Hajar mountains and the fort was restored during 2012.



Entry to the fort is free during the day, although you must sign the guard's guestbook. From the signboard that takes you to Masafi Fort, you have to take an unpaved road.

Jabal Masafi

Jabal Masafi is a mountain in Al Fujayrah, United Arab Emirates (Asia) with the region font code of Africa/Middle East. It is located at an elevation of 858 meters above sea level. A Mountain is an elevation standing high above the surrounding area with small summit area, steep slopes and local relief of 300m or more.

Masafi rain waterfalls 

Masafi Falls attracts people from the city and some tourists on holidays and weekends. Behind the falls is the RAK part of Masafi, a sitting area with town markets, farms, rooftop gardens and the dark, rocky landscape of the surrounding mountains. 



The Masafi Waterfalls and Cave is one of the hidden gems of UAE and must visit place. A great place to spend winters, especially after rainy days.There is no proper parking space for cars, no toilet and changing facilities.
