Our cherrapunji is Lakkidi, The gateway to Wayanad district in Kerala. There is no shortage of sights for travelers entering the ghat. Lakkidi view point is the most beautiful of them all. Vehicles crawling uphill from the basement, Monkeys, Fog, Cold, vision and the nickname "Ninth Bend" will become even more beautiful.




Lakkidi is the place with the highest rainfalls in South India. It is located at an elevation of 700 meter above sea level in the Thamarassery ghat. Lakkidi view point is located above the Thamarassery ghat. Lakkidi is one of the highest elevated area in Wayanad.

 The journey from Thamarassery in kozhikode district to lakkidi the gateway to Wayanad is very scenic. You have to climb the ghat from the base to reach here. These roads have Nine hairpin bends. These hairpin bends are the biggest attraction of the trip to Wayanad. Lakkidi is situated above this ghat. The views from the heights, the sound of the streams flowing down the hills and the lush green hills add to the charm of the trip. Lakkidi is situated at a distance of 58 km from Kozhikode. The nearest town to lakkidi is vythiri, about 5 km away. Chain tree, pookode lake, the scenic spots, in the ghat and many tourist spots are within a radius of 5 km.

How to reach Lakkidi 

Coming from Kozhikode, lakkidi is known as the gateway to Wayanad. Lakkidi is located at a distance of 28 km from the Thamarassery ghat. Coming from Kozhikode, the distance is 57.9 km. On the way from kannur to Kozhikode,it takes 122.5 km to reach lakkidi. It is situated at a distance of 45.5 km from Mananthavady in  Wayanad. Lakkidi is located at a distance of 44.5 km from pulpally and 15 km from Kalpetta. The NH 766 Connects Kozhikode in Kerala with Kollegal in Karnataka via Mysore.
