Thoovanam Waterfalls

 Thoovanam falls is located within the Chinnar wildlife sanctuary, 10 km from Marayoor in Munnar in Idukki district. The waterfall is located at Pambar inside the sanctuary. The waterfall originates from the pambar river. Thoovanam falls is open to the public at all times of the year. There is also a trekking facilities in the vicinity of the Waterfall. The trekking trails starts from the karimudi forest station and ends near the waterfall. There are also guides to guide trekking. Thoovanam falls is located at a distance of 60 km from Munnar. Although there is a good water throughout the year. The waterfall becomes more beautiful during the monsoons. The waterfall is a beautiful sight. The water that flows like layers of silver and greenery all around is very pleasing to the eye. This is a place where photographers can capture beautiful scenes. 

The waterfalls from a height of 84 feet. Thoovanam falls is accessible only to the adventurous tourists. The trekk through the forest for about three hours and finally reaches the waterfall in the forest. It has the facilities to see the waterfall up close and descend into it and bath. There is a fee for trekking. The biggest features of this waterfall is that the risk is very low. This waterfall is located at a height of about 140 feet on the pambar river which flows through the chinnar wildlife sanctuary. Tourists can spend time here enjoying the natural beauty. There are lots of private residence here. This is one of the best places to visit in a year. If it rains heavily, The waterfall will become stronger and therefore will not be allowed to enter the water at that time. The waterfall is located at a distance of about 8 km from the Marayoor- Udumalai National Highway. Tourists can enjoy picture of the Thoovanam waterfall from the Udumalpedu-Marayoor National Highway.

As it is a wildlife sanctuary, We can see a wide variety of birds and animals here. You can reach the sanctuary from Munnar via Marayoor - Chinnar road. Thoovanam falls is a small model of Athirapilly waterfalls.
